The Rossoneri chief was noncommittal when asked about a potential move for the Dutch ace and gave Pato a vote of confidence after he put in another lacklustre display on Saturday
AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi was coy when asked about the club's reported interest in Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
The Netherlands international's contract expires in 2013, leading to suggestions he is nearing the end of his spell at the London-based club.
He revealed on Sunday that he has put contract talks on hold until the summer, with Milan understood to be one of the sides keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
"He is a good player, but there are many more good players out there," Berlusconi is quoted as saying by La Stampa.
The Milan owner then came out in defence of under-fire striker Alexandre Pato, who was replaced at half-time of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Juventus after failing to impress during the opening session.
It was the first Serie A appearance in over a month for Pato, who has struggled for fitness and form this season, but Berlusconi gave his backing to the 22-year-old.
"I think he is the right player for Milan and I hope that Milan are the right club for Pato," Berlusconi said.
The 75-year-old then reasserted his criticism on the standard of refereeing in Saturday's match and insisted that his side deserved a victory against the Bianconeri.
"Milan were entitled to a positive result," he affirmed. "Despite our many injuries, despite 14 players in the infirmary, we performed well.
"Then we had the goal disallowed which was an absolutely clear goal, as you can see in TV replays or that much-reported photo."
Milan remain top of Serie A, one point clear ahead of Juventus, who have a game in hand.
