Robin van Persie has again reiterated plans to open talks over a new contract with Arsenal in the summer, although admits he is in no rush to commit his long-term future to the club.
The 28-year-old has been in sparkling form during the current campaign but with his existing deal expiring in the summer of 2013, talk has turned to whether the Dutchman will pen fresh terms.
Fans will be hoping of no repeat of Samir Nasri’s acrimonious exit last August, after he refused to sign a new deal, forcing the club’s hand to sell him.
Van Persie has admitted he loves the Gunners after spending eight years at the club, and is in regular contact with his manager about his future plans.
"I am already eight years at Arsenal and I am proud to say that,” Van Persie told De Telegraaf.
“I feel like a real Gunner. I love this club, that's no secret.
"After this season I will sit down with the manager and the chairman. We will than have a cup of coffee together."
"There's no rush, I speak with the manager on a regular [basis]. But the chairman will be there to at this meeting."
The Dutch striker has been linked with a move to a host of other clubs including Manchester City and Spanish duo Real Madrid and Barcelona.
