Greece VS USA (NBA players) Mundobasket 2006

Last two minutes of a great game for Greece defeating USA full of NBA superstars on her squad!!

Nuggets' Mozgov leaves game with leg injury

DENVER (AP) -- Denver Nuggets center Timofey Mozgov left Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers with a left leg injury.
Mozgov was injured after making a layup with 10:01 left in the third quarter. After he scored, Mozgov landed on his left leg and then fell to the floor in pain. He went straight to the locker room with the help of teammates Kenneth Faried and Chris Andersen.
The Nuggets said after the game that X-rays were negative.
Mozgov had four points and five rebounds in seven minutes before leaving. He is averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds a game this season.

Despite loss of vital cog, Hawks keeping ship afloat

When Al Horford was lost perhaps for the season with a torn pectoral muscle, it was supposed to have a deflating effect on the Hawks. Not the other teams.
And yet, here are the Hawks, patching that flat faster than an Indy 500 car crew, defying all logic by surviving and even thriving without their All-Star center and team leader.
In a season that doesn't make much sense for many reasons, this ranks right near the top in terms of head-scratchers. Even with a healthy Horford, the Hawks were talented yet tepid, prone to bouts of self-destruction and mental lapses, and definitely outside the loop of the elite in the East. And now, at least record-wise, they belong. What's more, they actually believe they belong. Imagine.
"We have guys around here who are expecting us to keep going like this," said Joe Johnson.
They were wiped out Thursday by the Grizzlies and yet the Hawks are 9-3 since Horford fell in a heap and required surgery. Crazy stuff has happened. Johnson started playing up to his salary (well, close enough, anyway) by raising his game across the board. Josh Smith, who always seemed more comfortable whenever Horford was off the floor, amped his level, too, and hopes it gets him to the All-Star Game. Jeff Teague is flourishing. Even Marvin Williams is, too, at times. And the bench has collectively chipped in to cover for Horford.
"When we got the news about Al and I told our players in the locker room, it was kind of a punch to the stomach," said coach Larry Drew. "As tough as it was to get that news and accept that news, it was also an opportunity to see what this team was truly made of."
It's not just Atlanta. A few others have managed to compensate for major losses. Look at the Spurs, still strong without Manu Ginobili. And the Celtics, without Rajon Rondo. Miami managed to minimize the loss of Dwyane Wade when he was out (having LeBron James helped a bit) and the same goes for the Bulls without Luol Deng.
Then Thursday night, the Grizzlies came to Atlanta without Zach Randolph and out-Hawked the Hawks, keeping themselves in contention in the West until Z-Bo returns from a bum knee. Memphis is trying to have the same life without Randolph as they had without Rudy Gay, when they bounced the Spurs from the playoffs last spring and then nearly shook up the Thunder.
"All the teams who are missing those important players are good teams and deep teams, so they can deal with it better than most," said Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins.
But none of those teams has a bigger margin for error than the Hawks. Horford is likely gone for the remainder of the regular season. Not only was he the Hawks' leading rebounder and an important interior defender, he also brought intangibles (smarts, leadership) needed for a team that lacks intangibles.
Atlanta isn't blessed with a franchise center (like Tim Duncan) or game-changing All-Star (LeBron, Wade) who can compensate for a missing starter. The Hawks are all about continuity and familiarity, considering most of the nucleus has been together for five and six seasons. And the Hawks have been incredibly blessed with good health until now; this is the first time Johnson, Smith or Horford has sat for a significant stretch with an injury.
The Hawks without Horford are obviously vulnerable inside -- and the Grizzlies exploited that weakness by attacking the rim relentlessly -- so normally, this would certainly spell doom. But the defense has tightened up and Johnson raised up, averaging nearly three points more per game since Horford's injury.
"I like having the ball in close situations," Johnson said. "My teammates are relying on me more right now. I have to come through."
Despite the rosy record and optimism, the Hawks need to be cautious, for a few reasons. The only team with a winning record they've beaten without Horford is Portland. The Hawks lost big to the Spurs and Sixers. And while they did win four out of five on a just-completed road trip, the true test of playing minus Horford will be determined over a longer stretch of games and when the back-to-backs add up. The Hawks are reaching deep into their bench and giving major minutes to players like Ivan Johnson; how much longer can he be productive?
As nicely as general manager Rick Sund found quality pieces at bargain prices (Tracy McGrady, Ivan Johnson, Vladimir Radmanovich), he'd be wise to stay in the hunt for Kenyon Martin and explore a trade for Chris Kaman if he can be added without pushing the Hawks much closer to the luxury tax threshold, where they don't belong.
As long as they don't drop to the middle of the pack in the East, or worse, invite disaster and flirt with missing the playoffs, Atlanta will be fine until Horford returns.
"We have to continue to take on the challenge, and although we've played well, it's still a big challenge," Drew said.

Report: WWE Not Interested In Bobby Lashley

Although Bobby Lashley is interested in resuming his professional wrestling career, WWE reportedly "wants no part of him right now."
WWE officials weren't happy about how he left the company years ago after receiving a large push, not to mention that there are lingering issues with creative head Michael Hayes.
As of right now, it appears Lashley will be sticking with MMA as there have been no talks between his team, WWE or TNA.

Why Mason Ryan's WWE Push Was Halted & More

Mason Ryan's sizable push was halted weeks ago due to his inability to connect with the audience. Nonetheless, WWE creative plans on renewing his push in the near future as they feel he has great potential. The Welsh wrestler was ultimately kept off Sunday's 30-Man Royal Rumble Match because they felt it would have done "nothing positive" for him.
Vince McMahon at least initially had an "infatuation" with Ryan, hence his fast track to the main roster last year and subsequent protection on television.

Update On Evan Bourne's Whereabouts Following Recent Drug Test Failure

During AfterBuzz.com's post-show for Monday's Raw SuperShow, SmackDown ring announcer Lilian Garcia's husband Chris Jozeph mentioned that Evan Bourne is 'in rehab right now' when the topic of tag team partner Kofi Kingston's match against The Miz was discussed. It would appear that he was misinformed as Bourne stated on Twitter that he bumped into a former Tampa, Florida area professional football player on Wednesday at a Publix supermarket.

"Bumped into Chris Hovan, former Buc and current USF coach, at Publix today. It'd be hard to find nicer or more positive guy than him! Peace!" he wrote.

Bourne, whose real name is Matthew Korklan, is currently serving a sixty-day suspension for his second violation of the company's Talent Wellness Program. The Raw Superstar apologized to fans via Twitter for his mistake.

"Sorry y'all. Sometimes we become our own worst enemy," he wrote on January 17, 2012, the same day as the announcement.

Bourne was first suspended on November 1, 2011 for a drug test failure for Spice, a marijuana substitute. PWInsider.com reported last week that his second infraction was 'for something completely unrelated to the first.'

Once Streak-obsessed, Triple H shrugs off Phenom

After a nearly year-long absence, The Undertaker made his ethereal return to WWE this past week, and by all appearances, Triple H wants nothing to do with it.
With his WrestleMania Streak dangling at 19-0, The Phenom’s reappearance on Raw SuperShow prompts many questions, though “Why?” isn’t necessarily one of them. As The Undertaker glared resolutely at the WrestleMania XXVIII sign Monday night, there was no mistaking his message to Triple H, the Superstar who last year came closer than anyone in history to snapping the venerable Streak.
Despite the buzz reverberating through Kansas City’s Sprint Center Monday, The Game wasted no time in dismissing the elephant in the room. With a look of resignation across his face, Triple H patted The Phenom on the shoulder and exited the ring without incident. As Raw SuperShow came to a close, The Undertaker gazed up again – this time, almost wistfully – to the WrestleMania sign. The Undertaker stares down the Superstar who almost broke The Streak, Triple H.
The scene was markedly different than the last time these two gladiators were in the same arena, at WrestleMania XXVII. Seared into the WWE Universe’s collective memory is the image of a drained Undertaker crumpling to the floor after his fierce No Holds Barred duel with The Game.
Although that dramatic contest left The Streak unadulterated, Triple H accomplished a remarkable feat that night, making The Phenom appear, at least before some eyes throughout the WWE Universe, very much human. Even though he lost, Triple H still managed to limp back to the locker room under his own power. The prevailing Undertaker, on the other hand, was carted away from the ring by WWE officials – an indelible sight that some feared would serve as an unceremonious end note to The Deadman’s legacy.
Now almost a year removed from that chaos, The Undertaker is back, and he has The Game in his crosshairs. Yet, Triple H shows no interest in renewing their rivalry. What gives?
It was with supreme determination that Triple H sought to end The Streak last year. Considered by most as the last frontier for The Game to conquer, a WrestleMania win over The Undertaker would certainly cement The King of Kings’ place among the immortals. Having come within inches of that achievement, Triple H’s seeming refusal to accept a rematch this year is somewhat perplexing.
The brutal WrestleMania XXVII showdown will go down in history. After all, to dance with The Deadman on The Grandest Stage of All is an opportunity that’s equally prestigious as it is perilous. The Undertaker has reached a point in his career where WrestleMania is practically the only venue that befits a legend of his status. To be pinpointed as his opponent is both an honor and a hazard.
“Quite frankly, I don’t know that The Undertaker’s whole career revolves around anything more than this one day,” Jim Ross told WWE cameras last year, ahead of the intense WrestleMania XXVII showdown.
With The Undertaker’s perfect WrestleMania record on the line and his days seemingly numbered, to what do we owe Triple H’s reluctance?
Perhaps Triple H, now that he’s added the title of WWE COO, has made the conscious decision to devote his full attention to business matters. Already engulfed in a political war with Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis, The Game would assuredly have to clear his corporate calendar if he were to entertain the thought of another dangerous encounter with The Deadman.
Or maybe The Cerebral Assassin, as fearless as he is, simply wants to wash his hands of The Undertaker and The Streak. Last year’s brutal affair unquestionably changed the course of each Superstar’s life, and one would be hard-pressed to argue that a rematch would be anything less than career-shortening. Since last April, Triple H has spent precious little time competing in the ring, while The Undertaker’s whereabouts prior to last Monday are completely unknown. These facts underscore the physical and emotional toll that last year’s match took on both Superstars. After a grueling bout, The Undertaker put away Triple H.
By blowing off The Undertaker the way he did Monday night, Triple H’s reaction may be interpreted yet another way – as empathetic. The Streak has clearly become the stuff of legend, and in his desire to defend it, The Undertaker has exhibited an unparalleled willingness to risk life and limb. Perhaps Triple H recognizes in The Phenom a self-destructive obsession to carry on The Streak ad infinitum – an obsession that the war-scarred Game refuses to indulge.
Whatever the reason for his dismissive response, Triple H was not eager to discuss the matter further when approached by WWE.com cameras Monday night.
Leading into this Monday’s Raw SuperShow in Oklahoma City, Okla., the major question now is in regard to The Undertaker’s next move. Whether he’s looking to avenge last year’s beating or simply test his Streak against the Superstar with the most potential to break it, The Undertaker has singled out The Game, and The Game has shrugged off his challenge. Should repercussions be expected?

Triple H Reportedly Called For Sheamus To Win Royal Rumble

Chris Jericho was pegged to win this year’s 30-Man Royal Rumble Match, but Triple H, who has gained even more influence behind the scenes, called for Sheamus to be the decided winner. The final decision was made last week.
The two have been friends since the Irish grappler’s promotion to the main roster in the summer of 2009 as the two workout together on the road. In a subsequent interview with Power Slam, he singled out the Celtic Warrior as a wrestler with potential.
Triple H said, “The closest to me is probably Sheamus, because we always train together on the road. But I try to watch all the young guys’ matches and give them advice, if they want to hear it. If they take advice to heart and really want to improve, then I’m wanting to help. As for seeing some of myself in someone? That’s tough. Sheamus just the other day showed up at a show he didn’t have to be at. He does whatever he’s asked to do without complaining, he goes to every show and is always wanting to work: he does it all, goes above and beyond. That’s what I was like.”
Randy Orton was initially pegged as the Rumble victor since he cleanly put over Mark Henry during The World’s Strongest Man’s rise as World Heavyweight Champion and the event was taking place in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. Later, the idea was changed to Jericho, setting up a WWE Championship showdown against CM Punk at WrestleMania XXVIII.
WWE officials contemplated last week having John Cena win the match due to the stipulation that “everyone was eligible” for the Rumble. Cena would win the match and subsequently make a tough decision: take the title shot and not face The Rock atWrestleMania.

Jim Ross Blog: Monday’s RAW & Bryan as Champion, WrestleMania 28, Superbowl

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety over at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR wrote about:
Monday’s RAW & Daniel Bryan As Champion: “Loved the TV bouts Monday on Raw featuring Orton vs Ziggler and Punk vs Bryan. Both were right in the wheel house of any broadcaster and one that any commentator could easily emotionally invest. Four, very talented men bringing it on free TV. Impressive. “
“For the record, informed fans who feel that Daniel Bryan is inadequate as World Champion in WWE have more than likely never had their ass whipped by a smaller guy. I can say this, on college campuses around the country and where amateur wrestling exists, the football players usually want nothing to do with the wrestlers especially the smaller wrestlers who carry enhanced chips on their shoulders.”
Whether He Will Call WrestleMania: “Been asked dozens of times if I’m broadcasting at WrestleMania 28. The honest answer is that I don’t know. I don’t find it newsworthy that I ‘want’ to broadcast WrestleMania because anyone in WWE who does any job in connection with the event and who doesn’t want to be a part of WrestleMania should be future endeavored. That would be the equivalent of a NFL player NOT wanting to play in the Super Bowl. WrestleMania remains very special to me and I will be in Miami for WrestleMania week and will enjoy every minute of the experience no matter what I do. “
Kharma’s WWE Status: “I am anxiously awaiting Kharma’s full time return which I assume will be in time to prep for a hopeful WM28. However, let’s let the lady enjoy her baby and get 100% ready before everyone soils the sheets on why Kharma isn’t back on TV full time just yet.”
JR’s Superbowl Prediction: “Going with the New York Giants and the points thanks to their defense, the team’s overall momentum, and the hot hand of Eli Manning vs the New England Patriots in Sunday’s Super Bowl. If Tom Brady can stay vertical, then the Pats have a much better chance but with TE Rob Gronkowski not at 100%, the Giants and the points seem to be the better option. I have no dog in the fight so watching Sunday will be stress free unless the damned phone starts ringing.”

Mark Henry Injury News, Kevin Dunn & the WWE Network, CM Punk

- WWE’s Kevin Dunn has taken a lot of initiative with the WWE Network and hired a lot of mid-level management. Many of the people he hired had formerly worked for WWE in the past and moved on so they are loyal to him.
- While he didn’t appear on the UFC FOX special, WWE Champion  did attend the weigh-ins with Chael Sonnen and went backstage.
’s knees went out in a match against  on January 24th in Tucson, Arizona. The belief is that Henry’s body was overcompensating because of the groin injury and that he shouldn’t have been in the ring.
According to a script from the SmackDown show,  was supposed to run-in when Mark Henry was down and take out Big Show with a chair, like he did. Show was supposed to come back and chokeslam him with Henry then laying out Bryan with a splash. Henry was in so much pain he couldn’t get up and splash Bryan.
