Cardiff City 2-2 Liverpool (aet, 2-3 on penalties): Reds edge thrilling Wembley final to taste League Cup glory

Liverpool lifted the Carling Cup - their first trophy win since 2006 - after beating Cardiff 3-2 on penalties, following a 2-2 draw at Wembley.

Liverpool broke Cardiff City hearts and secured League Cup glory with a dramatic penalty shootout victory.
Joe Mason sent the Championship side into a shock first half lead, and they held out courageously until Martin Skrtel pounced from a corner to level the score after an hour.
Their six-year wait for silverware was ended by a Gerrard but it was Cardiff's Anthony, cousin of Reds captain Steven, who had the decisive involvement on Sunday afternoon.

The 26-year-old, on as a substitute in extra-time, missed the penalty in a shoot-out which gave the Merseysiders' a record eighth League Cup.
